Healthcare System

The Boise medical community offers 6 hospitals, 750 licensed physicians, and more than 1,200 hospital beds. The major hospitals in Boise are Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, an acute-care facility featuring a regional trauma center; and Saint Luke’s Regional Medical Center.

Climate: Boise Weather

Boise has a semi-arid climate with four distinct seasons.   So, if you like warm sunny days, fall colors, or even cooler weather, you can have them all in Boise.  Boise can experiences hot and dry summers with highs exceeding 100 °F  5.6 days in a typical year and 90 °F on 46 days.

Yet snowfall averages are less than19 inches, on average falls in amounts of 3 inches or less.  Fall and spring  are mild. Autumn is short and spring is gradual. Precipitation is mainly light and  infrequent, especially so during the summer time. Extremes have ranged from −25 °F on December 22, 1990 to 111 °F , recorded July 19, 1960.

Boise is in High Desert

Boise is a dry climate. Because of the aridity, even summer nights often offer significant and crisp cool-downs. Winters are cold, with a January average of 30.2 °F , and lows falling to 0 °F or below on around 4 nights per year.  What’s notable is the abundant sunshine which is why there is so little rain or snow. But, if you want snow, the drive into the mountains is less than an hour away with world class skiing and related activities.
